The RUC were tonight still seeking a motive for the murder of a man found dead in a street in Belfast today.

David McDowell, 34, had suffered serious head injuries but had not been shot. His body was discovered lying on a footpath at the junction of the Shankill Road and Lanark Way early this morning.

He lived in nearby Battenberg Street. He was described by Billy Hutchinson of the PUP as “very quiet and unassuming”.
