Man questioned over girlfriend's holiday plunge

A Belfast man has been arrested after his girlfriend plunged five floors from their hotel room in the Canary Islands.

The 29-year-old woman escaped death when she hit a sunshade canopy covering a bar area at a holiday complex in Playa del Ingles, a popular resort with Irish tourists.

Karen Pelin is fighting for her life at a local hospital. It's understood she has internal injuries.

Her boyfriend, 36-year-old Hugh McCormick is being questioned by local police about the incident.
