Two die in separate road accidents

Two people have died in separate overnight road traffic accidents.

A young woman in her twenties was killed in Co Kildare just after midnight.

She died when the car in which she was travelling hit a wall on the Kilcock Road, outside Maynooth.

It followed the death of a man in Limerick city, after two cars collided on the outbound lane of the main Limerick-Shannon road in wet conditions.

The identities of the victims have not been released until all next of kin are informed.

The latest deaths bring the total number of fatalities on the roads so far this year to 231.
