The Ulster Unionist Party has said that yesterday's statement from the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning does not provide a basis for rescuing the Good Friday Agreement.

Speaking after a meeting of the party's Assembly members, MPs and Peers in Belfast, UUP leader David Trimble said the make-or-break peace package put forward by the Irish and British Government's will not win unionist support unless the IRA begins the process of actual decommissioning.
