SDLP positive about peace proposals

The SDLP has said it will back the proposals by the Irish and British Governments for the full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.

However, party leader John Hume said his party had some concerns about the package which they would be submitting.

"We have made considerable progress but there's still a few other matters to be dealt with," he said.

One of these areas remains police reform, he added. "We are still working to create the circumstances where we will be doing that because we want and people want a policing service that will have membership from all sections of the community," he said.
