Gardai trace scene of canal body's killing

Gardai investigating the murder of a Romanian man, whose body was found in a suitcase in Dublin's Royal Canal, may have located the murder scene.

It is reported the search of a house in the Strand Road in Sandymount in Dublin has uncovered evidence of a violent assault there.

It is believed blood has been found at the scene.

The man's Russian girlfriend lived in a flat at the house and gardai are still trying to trace her.

It is believed the murder victim also lived at the house.

Detectives are also investigating another address where the man lived on Sherrard Street in the north inner city.
