Gardai no closer to identifying canal body
Gardai in north Dublin are still no closer to identifying the man whose body was found trussed up in a suitcase in the Royal Canal in Drumcondra two weeks ago.
Detectives investigating the murder received more than 50 calls following the publication of a photograph of the body and are currently following up a number of lines of inquiry.
The man, who is believed to be from eastern Europe and in his 30s, was killed by five blows to the back of his head.
His body was in the water for up to five days before it was discovered by a group of children playing on the banks of the canal.
