Labour wants Liam Lawlor suspended
The Labour Party has said the Dail should have the power to suspend Liam Lawlor after he was sent to jail for a week today for the second time this year.
Party spokesman Derek McDowell said the Flood Tribunal was established by the Oireachtas and members of the Oireachtas have a duty to co-operate with it.
Because the courts have decided that Mr Lawlor is withholding information from the tribunal, Mr McDowell said there "must be a mechanism whereby the Dail can make it clear that it very strongly disapproves" of actions like Mr Lawlor's.
