Big Bro's Brian starts MTV talks

Big Brother winner Brian Dowling was today in talks with music channel MTV.

The discussions could lead to a job as a presenter.

The star of the Channel 4 surveillance show, who landed £70,000 prize when he won the public vote, could land a big money deal to introduce videos for the station.

Davina McCall is among the figures who have started their path to broadcasting success at the station - she is now one of the most in-demand presenters on TV.

MTV confirmed that it would like to recruit the gay air steward, who captivated viewers with his caustic wit. He also showed himself to be a pop fan by singing and dancing during his time in the house.

An MTV spokesman said: ‘‘We are in talks with his people. We think he’s great, but as to whether something will happen, who knows?

‘‘We want to get him in for a screen test.’’

MTV has put in a bid to create a show to replace Channel 4’s Big Breakfast, but it is understood that Dowling is being considered for a general presenting role rather than the proposed new show.

He is, however, thought to be in the running for a presenting job on another projected Big Breakfast replacement being put together by the creators of Big Brother.

:: Helen Adams, runner-up in this year’s Big Brother, is in discussions over a role on a new lifestyle programme being presented by Lorraine Kelly for Sky One.
