An 18-year-old soldier has died following a shooting inside an Army camp in Northern Ireland.

An 18-year-old soldier has died following a shooting inside an Army camp in Northern Ireland.

A legally-held firearm was found beside the victim's body in Drumadd barracks, Armagh.

He died as a result of a gunshot wound but a crime is not suspected, said an RUC spokesman.

The Army said the dead man was Ranger Paul Robert Cochrane, from Belfast, who had been serving with the 1st Battalion, the Royal Irish Regiment and was based at Drumadd.
