A mother and her two young sons, who were murdered yesterday in Co Westmeath, died from multiple stab wounds, post mortems have revealed.

A mother and her two young sons, who were murdered yesterday in Co Westmeath, died from multiple stab wounds, post mortems have revealed.

The post mortems, which were carried out by assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, show that they died of multiple stab wounds, but the exact cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Garda detectives are due to return of the scene of the crime in Castledaly today as they continue the search for the murder weapon.

The father of the family, 32-year-old Greg Fox, is still in hospital in Ballinasloe where he is reported to be in a comfortable condition.

He has still not been questioned by the Gardai.
