Shots fired during latest Belfast clashes

The RUC is investigating two separate shooting incidents during another night of rioting at the nationalist-loyalist interface in north Belfast.

Ten shots were fired in the Alliance Avenue area, while the RUC said it fired four shots after coming under fire from an automatic weapon.

Meanwhile, a bus was hijacked and burned out in the nationalist Ardoyne area.

Earlier yesterday, the RUC recovered 30 primed petrol bombs and almost 200 bottles during searches on both sides of the peaceline in north Belfast.

Stores of bricks and rubble, which police believe were stockpiled for use in riots, were also uncovered.
