Assistant State Pathologist begins examinations
The assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, has arrived in Co Westmeath to establish the cause of death of a mother and her two sons.
The three were found in their house in the village of Castledaly with visible injuries.
The father is currently being treated for serious injuries in hospital in Ballinasloe after the discovery was made at 10am today.
The three bodies are being kept at the scene until the preliminary examination is over and full post-mortems are expected to be carried out later on.
