Young man dies in Westmeath crash

A young man has died in a road accident near Tyrellspass in Co Westmeath, bringing the death toll on Ireland's roads so far this year to 218.

The man was killed when he lost control of the van he was driving and slammed into a wall at around 7am.

Gardai are withholding his name until all next of kin are informed.
