UK agrees to consider inquiries into Finucane, Nelson, Hamill deaths
The British Government is believed to have proposed that a judge be appointed to hear evidence on whether there should be independent inquiries into the murders of Rosemary Nelson, Pat Finucane and Robert Hamill.
The judge, who would not have the power to compel witnesses, would also investigate allegations of garda collusion in the deaths of two RUC officers returning from a cross-border meeting in Dundalk in 1989.
