Tanaiste supports extension of GP healthcare

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has said she believes an extension of GP healthcare and health insurance for all citizens would radically improve Ireland's health service.

Health is expected to be a major issue in the next general election campaign and the Progressive Democrats will hold an all-day think-tank on Thursday to decide what issues should be given priority in the Government's seven-year health strategy.
