'Some will never escape poverty trap' - Ahern

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, Dermot Ahern, has admitted that some people in Ireland will never escape the poverty trap.

Mr Ahern was speaking at the launch of the Government's revised National Anti-Poverty Strategy.

He said that despite the Celtic Tiger success story and the fact that the majority of Irish people have never been better off, there was still a certain number who would always find it difficult to make ends meet.
