Man due in court over Galway siege

A 55-year-old man is due before Galway District Court later today on charges of falsely imprisoning his wife and possessing a firearm with the intention of avoiding arrest.

Ian Raymond Weston was arrested on Saturday morning following a siege at his house during which he held his wife hostage.

Following the incident, gardai recovered an airgun, an axe and a crossbow from Weston's house.
