A major new report on the future of Irish Rail, has recommended a once-off payment to staff if they do not take part in industrial action.

A major new report on the future of Irish Rail, has recommended a once-off payment to staff if they do not take part in industrial action.

The report, carried out at the request of the Minister for Public Enterprise Mary O’Rourke, also proposes that Iarnrod Eireann be separated from CIE.

A spokesman said the moves might go some way towards restoring an atmosphere of industrial calm at the company.
