Irish couple die in Sardinian resort

The Department of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the police on the Italian island of Sardinia following the deaths of an Irish couple at a resort on the island.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the police on the Italian island of Sardinia following the deaths of an Irish couple at a resort on the island.

The couple, who were both in their twenties, were staying at the Hotel Oasis in the city of Alghero when they died in what is believed to have been a swimming accident.

It is thought that the two died while swimming in the hotel swimming pool.

One was found dead on the scene and the other was pronounced dead in an ambulance a short time later.

The two had arrived at the resort on Sunday.
