Gardai search for dissident training camps
Armed Garda detectives are continuing to conduct searches of parts of counties
Carlow and Kildare for suspected training camps used by dissident Republican
groups.
Two men have been arrested so far. Several specialised Garda units are involved in the searches, including the Garda air support unit.
Garda headquarters have described the operation as a significant move against
Republican groups.
Armed members of the emergency response unit and the special detective unit
have been brought in from the Dublin headquarters.
In addition, local crime and security units and local gardai are also involved in the searches.
No exact locations have been given, but it is understood the operation is focusing on bogland and woodland.
Those arrested are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and are being held at Naas and Newbridge Garda stations.
