Irish people being 'held to ransom ': Taoiseach

The Taoiseach has said that the series of industrial disputes in public sector companies over the past two years have "held the public to ransom".

In a wide-ranging speech to the bi-annual conference of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions in Bundoran this afternoon, Mr Ahern said that new ways of resolving disputes must be found.
