Brennan warned about lies at Flood Tribunal

At the Flood Tribunal, builder Tom Brennan has been reminded for the third time in two days about the implications of telling lies.

Justice Flood heard that builders Brennan and McGowan made payments to Ray Burke in Jersey despite evidence made last year, when they said no such payment took place.

In evidence during April last year, the builders failed to disclose information about payments to Mr Burke in the early 1980s.

Today, Mr Brennan admitted that payments referred to as political donations were made to Mr Burke.

Patrick Hanratty SC, reminded him about the implications of perjury and accused him of obstructing the work of the Tribunal.

Earlier, the Tribunal heard that Mr Burke, as Industry Minister, had canvassed the Revenue for Brennan and McGowan in a dispute over tax.
