Angry Louth farmers descend on Dail

More than 100 Co Louth farmers will march on the Dail today in protest at the lack of compensation received over the foot-and-mouth slaughter on the Cooley Peninsula.

The Cooley Compensation Campaign has said the Dept of Agriculture has ignored them, despite promises that they would not lose out financially from the cull of their flocks.

Spokesperson John Elmore said the 275 Cooley farmers have now been forgotten, even though they sacrificed everything to ensure the virus did not spread to the rest of the country.
