Gardai have named the two people who were killed in overnight road accidents.

Kenneth Mulqueen died when his motorbike hit a traffic island in Moyross in Limerick and veered into an oncoming car.

The four occupants of the car were injured in the crash but not seriously.

Meanwhile, Paul Griffin was killed when his car lost control and hit a tree in Mitchelstown, Co Cork.

He was a native of Coolenave in Mitchelstown.
