Demonstrators keep McCreevy from Gothenburg meeting
The Minister for Finance, Charlie McCreevy, is being prevented from attending a meeting of EU finance ministers by protestors in Sweden.
Around 3,000 anti-globalisation demonstrators have returned to the streets of Gothenburg and are protesting outside Minister McCreevy's hotel.
A Department of Finance spokesperson said rioters had looted the street outside the hotel, setting fire to several trees, and were engaged in pitched battles with police.
200 people were arrested last night in similar clashes.
