Belfast mob victim dies

A young man who was stabbed in an alleged mob attack in west Belfast two weeks ago has died.

A young man who was stabbed in an alleged mob attack in west Belfast two weeks ago has died.

18-year-old Damien Duffy was wounded in the abdomen and suffered serious head injuries when ambushed by between 15 and 20 people carrying iron bars and wheel braces, according to the RUC.

The teenager was set upon when he left a nightclub on the city's Stewartstown Road and took a taxi early on Sunday May 20.

He died in a specialist liver unit at the Kings College Hospital London yesterday afternoon.

A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody, charged with attempted murder, in connection with the incident.
