Abbeylara hearing expected in July
The High Court challenge by 36 Gardai into the Oireachtas Sub-Committee investigation on the Abbeylara incident is now likely to begin some time in July.
A timetable of events for the exchange of documents has been put in place by Mr Justice Peter Kelly.
The Gardai are challenging the Committee’s right to investigate their role in the siege that led to the death of John Carthy on April 24 last year.
Today, Mr Justice Peter Kelly put a timetable of events in place for the exchange of documents.
The respondents in this case, the Attorney General and the State, must have documents in place by June 18 next.
The Gardai, in return, must have their documents ready by June 25.
The court is likely to set a hearing for the case when it re-sits on June 28, meaning it could be some time in July when this controversial hearing gets underway.
