Ahern under pressure over Stadium Ireland

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was under intense new pressure today over his strong backing for a multi-million pound new national sports stadium.

Opposition leaders demanded a fresh statement from the soccer fan premier after indications from his own government’s Department of Finance that the cost of the Dublin-based project could run up to £100m more than current estimates.
