Gardai leave station in row over building
It has emerged that three gardai stationed near the border with Co Derry have walked out on their posts in protest at its state of disrepair.
The trio are refusing to return to the station at Muff until it is replaced and are currently operating out of the main station in nearby Buncrana.
Michael O'Boyce from the Garda Representative Association said the building had been classified as a health hazard in the 1970s and that the Department of Justice had ignored countless calls for a new one to be constructed.
He added that the money allocated for the refurbishment of the building in the 1980s had been used to rectify a dry rot problem.
A Garda spokesman said policing levels in the Muff sub-district had not been affected.
