Belfast rioting is quelled

There has been a fresh wave of rioting in East Belfast, along the peace line, today.

There has been a fresh wave of rioting in East Belfast, along the peace line, today.

Riots broke out between opposing factions at about 4am today following an attack on a group of Australian tourist who were mistaken for Protestants.

The RUC said that a security operation that was carried out in the Mount Pottinger area has quelled the riot and that things are now returning to normal.
