Two dead in separate road accidents

A 21-month-old baby died last night after being struck by a van in the confines of a caravan site occupied by residents of the travelling community.

The accident happened at Barberstown Cross in Straffin in Co Kildare at 8.45pm last night.

It is understood that the child was struck near her mobile home by the van.

Also last night a 37-year-old female pedestrian lost her life in Co Donegal last night when she was struck by a lorry.

The accident happened at Tullyowen, Saint Johnston at 7.45pm.
