Man sentenced to life for murder of pensioner

Richard Kearney has been found guilty of the murder of 72-year-old Mary Dillon at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

Kearney, 20, of Finglas Place in Dublin was sentenced to life in prison.

The eight men and four women were sent to a hotel for a second night last night after failing to reach a verdict.

Richard Kearney denied murdering 72-year-old Mary Dillon on dates unknown between November 23 and 25, 1998.

Ms Dillon was last seen alive by a friend on the night of November 23, 1998.
