DART may be disrupted again later

The rail strike is continuing to cause chaos right along the east coast and on the Dublin-Sligo line.

However, Irish Rail services say all DART services in Dublin are now operating.

There is a fear however of fresh disruption to the DART during the evening rush hour and commuters are being warned to expect delays and cancellations.

Strike action is expected to continue until midnight on Thursday.

Earlier the Minister for Public Enterprise Mary O’Rourke again protested that there was nothing she could do to try and end the strike.

She points out that the issue is an inter-union row and is again calling on all sides to use the offices of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions to try and end the strike.

The striking drivers are members of the ATGWU.
