Farm-to-farm movement to resume Monday

The farm-to-farm movement of animals is set to resume from next Monday following a meeting between farming leaders and the Minister for Agriculture Joe Walsh.

The IFA and ICMSA are welcoming the news, which they said will be an enourmous relief to their members in the wake of the foot and mouth scare.

IFA president Tom Parlon said the final details have yet to be ironed out and he accepts that even though movement maybe resuming there will be a need for a lot of red tape to ensure there is no FMD outbreak.

Later today the farming organisations will be meeting the Government’s expert group on Foot and Mouth.
