Former Fine Gael minister Michael Lowry secured reductions of £40m for Ryanair, according to reports.

According to reports, as Minister for Transport, Energy and communications between 1994 and 1996, Lowry intervened with Aer Rianta to obtain discounts on landing charges for the airline at Dublin Airport.
