Naval Service assault accused remanded

A 19-year-old naval mechanic has been remanded on bail on a charge of assault causing bodily harm following the death of a colleague on the LE Eithne two weeks ago.

Sean Lundon from James Connolly Park, Tipperary town, said nothing during his appearance before Dublin District Court as he was remanded until September 12.

Under the terms of his bail, he must report to police in Tipperary once a week.

Able Seaman Brian Gorey's body was found floating beside the vessel in the Liffey in the early hours of April 22 last.
