New figures released this morning show that Ireland has the fourth-highest rate of asthma sufferers in the world.

Asthma is the most common long-term illness in children and it is estimated that as many as 20% of Irish children suffer from the ailment.

The Minister for Health Micheal Martin today launched an awareness campaign to mark World Asthma Day.
