Thousands of postcards sent back to Trocaire

Trocaire says, it has received around 55,000 postcards from this years Lenten campaign to highlight international slavery.

This year the aid agency called upon Irish people to support their drive to help ensure that anti-slavery laws are rigorously enforced.

For the first time ever this year's Lenten pack which went out to households and schools, included two campaign postcards.

Now the completed cards are pouring into Trocaire's offices by the thousands, as well as the traditional Lenten boxes.

However, as the May 21st deadline looms for the handover of the postcards to Labour Minister Tom Kitt and UN Human Rights Commissioner Mary Robinson, Trocaire is appealing for the as yet thousands of unsigned and unreturned postcards.
