Abbeylara shots 'within the regulations of State'
A senior Garda has told the Abbeylara inquiry that gardai were right to take the course of action they did when John Carthy was fatally wounded in April last year.
Chief Superintendent Adrian Culligan said the use of force by the gardai was within the regulations of the State.
He said that just because a person has been shot three times does not mean he is no longer a threat.
Gardai have claimed that Mr Carthy was shot as he walked towards the Emergency Response Unit in a threatening manner.
