Foot-and-mouth alert raised in Co Louth
A possible outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease is being investigated by the Dept of Agriculture in Co Louth.
Samples from a sheep on a farm in Dunleer have been sent to England, but a Dept spokesperson said it is merely a precautionary measure and said they are not concerned about this case.
No results will be available until at least three days' time.
The animal was discovered through the contact tracing scheme, which examines any animals that may have come in contact with farmers and livestock from the North before restrictions were put in place.
