Report shows most State benefits go to low-income households

A new report released this afternoon shows that benefits from free schemes and the medical card primarily go to low-income households.

The study by the ESRI reveals that 65% of benefits from free schemes, such as those for travel, rent, electricity and telephone, go to the poorest 30% of households.
