Farmers in Co Louth will hear for certain today if animals had the foot-and-mouth disease.

The two initial tests from a farm in Piedmont proved negative.

However, the Dept of Agriculture is still waiting for test results from a farm in Bunclody, Co Wexford.

The results may be delayed due to a backlog of tests waiting to be done at the English testing centre.

If the all clear is given in both cases, restrictions on travel and sporting events will be eased from April 19 next.
