Murder investigation in Dublin

A murder investigation is underway in Dublin after a post mortem on the body of a man found in a northside park confirmed he had been beaten to death.

The man, who was in his twenties, was discovered in St Anne's Park in Raheny early yesterday by a man out walking his dog.

The body had serious head injuries and it appears the victim was beaten with a blunt instrument at or near the spot where the remains were found.

A careful search of the scene was carried out, although gardai said litter made it difficult to gather clues.

The dead man has been identified, but his name will not be released until next of kin are informed.
