Man receives 45 stitches to head

A man has received 45 stitches to his head after an assualt outside his home in Co Wexford lastnight.

A man has received 45 stitches to his head after an assault outside his home in Co Wexford last night.

The man had been asleep after he heard noises outside his house on Mary Street in New Ross.

When he went outside to investigate he was set upon by a number of men who hit him over the head with a bottle.

He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Gardai have arrested two men in connection with the incident.
