Cannabis found on Lower Shankill

The RUC say they have found a large quantity of cannabis and paramilitary equipment in a search of a house in the mainly Protestant Lower Shankill Road area of Belfast.

An RUC spokesman said that as a result of suspicious activity, they searched a house in the area and found cannabis with a street value of £30,000.

In a follow-up search, they found component parts of an explosive device, ammunition and paramilitary clothing.

The Lower Shankill is controlled by the UDA and is notorious for drug-dealing.
