Ireland awaits Louth FMD results
Ireland's farmers this morning await news of tests on samples taken from a sheep that showed symptoms of foot-and-mouth disease.
The suspect case was discovered on a farm at Jenkinstown in Co Louth yesterday.
The movement of all animals in and out of the county has been suspended and all the sheep in the herd were slaughtered.
IFA Livestock Chairman Raymond O'Malley last night said the measures were merely taken as a precaution.
