Ferry to resume sailing after safety row

The docked Swansea-Cork ferry City of Cork is due to make its first crossing in five days at 8pm tomorrow.

Engine crew spent the weekend undergoing intensive training after they failed to implement safety drill procedures to the satisfaction of the British Maritime Coastguard Agency.

Up to 1,000 passengers due to travel home for St Patrick's Day had to make alternative arrangements when the vessel was docked.

The City of Cork engine crew members were supplied by a Greek company.

Swansea-Cork Ferries have lodged a ÂŁ500,000 compensation claim against the company for loss of earnings, business and damages.

The vessel is due to arrive back in Cork at 6am on Wednesday.

The ferry will make the return Cork-Swansea sailing at 9pm on Wednesday, due to arrive in Swansea at 7am on Thursday.
