Man injured in Laois shooting

A man is being treated in hospital this morning following a shooting incident in Co Laois overnight.

The man, in his 20s, was shot in the shoulder shortly after 8pm last night.

Two men drove up to a halting site in the Ballymorris area of Portarlington and fired a shot.

The victim was taken to Tullamore General Hospital, where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Gardai have launched an investigation.
