Row emerges between London and Belfast over FMD
A row has broken out between the Stormont Executive and the London-based Ministry of Agriculture.
The North's Department of Agriculture has written a letter to London asking them not to interfere with orders to prevent the spread of foot and mouth.
Northern Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers confirmed today that she would be keeping the strict measures in place that have so far prevented the spread of the disease.
There was some concern in the North today about contradictory advice being given by London and Belfast, after a bird sanctuary in Co Down said it would re-open after seeking permission from London.
The Belfast Department of Agriculture has now written to London asking them not to issue advice to individuals or institutions in the North.
It said local guidelines are designed to reflect local concerns.
